The role and key duties

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes to the highest standards;
  • Work closely with senior chefs in your section to ensure consistency and quality (Commis Chef);
  • Or oversee a designated section of the kitchen during service as directed by a senior chef and help provide training to more junior chefs(Demi Chef);
  • Maintain a clean, organised workstation and follow all health and safety guidelines;
  • Support daily kitchen operations, including stock rotation and inventory management;
  • Help control wastage and portion sizes while upholding quality standards;
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment;

Essential criteria required to be considered

  • Chef trade qualification (essential);
  • Previous experience in a la carte restaurant environment;
  • Ability to understand & deliver on our guests expectations;
  • Passion for culinary excellence and continuous improvement, and industry knowledge of food health & safety;
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, strong communication and teamwork skills and be able to multitask with a high attention to detail;
  • Willingness to commence work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays;
  • Reliable vehicle to get to and from the hotel;
  • Located close or a willingness to relocate.
