The Role

Iconic Blue Mountains hotel Lilianfels has an exciting opportunity for a part-time (20 hrs) Demi Chef to join our passionate team in Katoomba, Blue Mountains. As a member of our wider Salter Brothers Hospitality team, you’ll play a key role in creating meaningful experiences for both our guests and teammates through thoughtful service, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

About Lilianfels

Recently rejuvenated and located in the heart of the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park, just a 90 minutes drive from Sydney CBD is Lilianfels Resort & Spa. Set amidst two acres of manicured gardens adjacent to Echo Point, this 5-star resort boasts 85 rooms, multiple food and beverage offerings, a 13-metre heated outdoor infinity pool and a 10-metre indoor pool, sauna and spa.

The role and key duties

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes to the highest standards;
  • Oversee a designated section of the kitchen during service as directed by a senior chef and help provide training to more junior chefs;
  • Maintain a clean, organised workstation and follow all health and safety guidelines;
  • Support daily kitchen operations, including stock rotation and inventory management;
  • Help control wastage and portion sizes while upholding quality standards;
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment;

Essential criteria required to be considered

  • Chef trade qualification (essential);
  • Previous experience in a la carte restaurant environment;
  • Ability to understand & deliver on our guests expectations;
  • Passion for culinary excellence and continuous improvement, and industry knowledge of food health & safety;
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, strong communication and teamwork skills and be able to multitask with a high attention to detail;
  • Ability and willingness to commence work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays;
  • Located close to our retreat with a reliable vehicle or a willingness to relocate.
