We have an exciting opportunity at Spicers Sangoma Retreat for an eager and passionate Apprentice Chef.
Ideally in your 2nd or 3rd year - This is your opportunity to work in a Good Food Guide One Hat restaurant and kick start your culinary career working with a talented Head Chef and locally sourced and fresh produce.
About Restaurant Amara
Fresh, organic and seasonal produce sourced from the historic Hawkesbury region, Restaurant Amara provides a unique, rewarding experience that reconnects guests with the very best of the land, and surprises with its sheer originality. The intimate 26 seat restaurant is about personalised experience for our guests staying at the retreat and guests joining for lunch and dinner from the local region.
Spicers Sangoma Retreat is cocooned by the natural serenity of the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Just over an hour from Sydney, and aptly named after the Zulu word for healer, Sangoma is a place where guests discover complete rejuvenation.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver our inhouse dining menu inspired by local ingredients, prepared utilising creative preparation techniques;
- Curating an unforgettable and personalised experience for our guests from start to finish;
- Participate in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas;
- Learn and apply various cooking techniques and culinary skills;
- Help with the daily mise en place, ensuring all ingredients are prepped and ready for service;
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.;
- Support the team during service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations;
- Receive ongoing training and mentorship to develop your culinary expertise;
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests.
This is how you’ll know you’re right for this role
- Currently enrolled and completing a Commercial cookery qualification (essential).
- Desire to learn and grow as a Chef;
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation;
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail ability to work in a kitchen environment;
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends;
- Located close to our restaurant or a willingness to relocate.
- Reliable vehicle to travel to and from work.
