Bannisters Port Stephens have an exciting new opportunity for a full-time Assistant Venue Manager to help lead our passionate team at Cheeky Dog pub in Port Stephens.

As a member of our wider Salter Brothers Hospitality team, you’ll play a key role in creating meaningful experiences for both our guests and teammates through thoughtful service, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The role and key duties

  • Support the Venue Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the venue;
  • Be a true hands-on leader, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture;
  • Ensure smooth service delivery during peak periods, including weekends and events;
  • Act as a key point of contact for guest inquiries and feedback, resolving any issues promptly and professionally;
  • Monitor venue presentation and cleanliness to maintain high standards;
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and inventory management, manage staff rosters and shift allocations and assist with cash handling, reconciliation, and reporting;
  • Liaise with suppliers and coordinate deliveries to ensure efficient BOH operations;
  • Monitor equipment and facilities, reporting maintenance needs promptly, monitor venue security and incident reporting procedures;
  • Uphold RSA and workplace health & safety standards, maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene standards;
  • Monitor sales performance and contribute to revenue growth strategies.

Essential criteria required to be considered

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a hospitality venue (essential);
  • Experience overseeing TAB and gaming operations, including compliance and customer engagement (essential);
  • Current RSA, RCG and NSW Competency card (essential);
  • A genuine passion for customer service and the ability to make our guests and locals feel truly comfortable;
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment;
  • Solid understanding of venue operations, including stock control, compliance, and rostering, experience with POS systems and basic financial reporting;
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required;
  • Reliable transport to get to and from work.
